Implementing AvantLink Feature Requests – Round Two

May 10, 2010 1 Comment by

Just a quick post to say we’ve recently completed implementing a few more of the suggestions we received from our AvantLink Feature Requests survey on Facebook.

One change that affects all levels of AvantLink users is to our add-on for Firefox:

  • If you have configured custom display settings for a report (e.g. a particular sort order or any change to the default ordering of columns/fields) those changes are now reflected in the detail report pop-ups that are accessible from within the Firefox.  As an example, if through the normal “Reports” page on our site you set up the “Performance Summary” report to hide the number of ad impressions, then the “Performance Summary” report that you can access from the Firefox add-on will hide that column as well.

Other enhancements that apply only to the affiliate user interface include:

  • It is possible now to download a small sample file from any merchant datafeed, regardless of whether you are actively affiliated with a merchant program or not. This functionality is made available as a “Product Sample” download link on the datafeed-related tool detail pages for such merchants. While the samples themselves are not usable (there is no affiliate tracking information embedded in the sample files) they do provide a concrete indication of what information is available from a given merchant.
  • The merchant ad listing page (where you find banner/image, Flash, HTML, text, and video ads) now includes easier functionality for quickly filtering to specific sizes of banner/image ads.
  • Also on the ad listing page is better functionality for managing ad groups.  You can now quickly filter the list of ads to just those included in a particular ad group, and rename existing ad groups.

Thanks go to Rob Lucas for suggestions about the Firefox add-on and filtering ads by image size, and Shawn Kerr’s idea for a datafeed preview/sample feature. Improvements to the ad group management functionality, while not mentioned in the Facebook survey, were inspired by several affiliate requests in the course of support conversations.
